Who would have thought that Cristiano Ronaldo, this year’s shoo-in for the Ballon d’Or award, derived all its footballing power from… an undershirt. At least, that’s what the good folks at Nike Pro would have you believe. Case in point: when Manchester United’s Kit Man (Albert Morgan) dons C-Ron’s shirt, he becomes invincible. Like, hit-the-crossbar-four-times-in-a-row-type invicible (only here, the CGI work is all too evident).

Cristiano Ronaldo & Nike Pro show us how to “Be Invincible”
Thursday, November 20th, 2008Nike: What Andrés Knows
Friday, September 5th, 2008Fifth episode in Nike’s “What the Pros Know” series. After What Ruud Knows, What Wayne Knows, What William Knows, and the inspiring What Joe Knows, it’s Barcelona and Spain midfielder Andrés Iniesta‘s turn to share thoughts about footy. This one’s pretty short actually (just under two minutes), so don’t expect a miracle recipe for success. Still, someone capable of winning the Spanish Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the European Championship just might have a few interesting pointers to give, so listen up.
In the words of Nike: “There aren’t a whole lot of players treading turf who know what it takes to get signed by Barcelona aged twelve, get a call-up to the Spanish national team at 22, and go on to win La Liga, Champions League and European medals before they hit 25. Andrés Iniesta is one. Now listen up, while one of Bootcamp’s most decorated pros tells you what you should be eating, how you should be training, how hard you need to push yourself to make it happen.”

Nike Live: The Fabio Cannavaro Show
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008Ever since Cesc Fabregas took all the plaudits with his very own TV show, fans across Europe have been wondering who’ll be next to hit the silver screen. Now the wait is over, as the lovely Giorgia Surina and Italian comic group Trio Medusa kick off The Fabio Cannavaro Show.
Note that unlike Fabregas’, this show was a one-night event which aired for the first time on May 21st (i.e. before Euro 2008), on the Italian digital TV channel Sky Sport. However, the Nikefootball lads have only recently uploaded it on YouTube, graciously providing English subtitles.
Nike: What Joe Knows
Friday, August 1st, 2008Fourth episode in Nike’s “What the Pros Know” series. After What Ruud Knows, What Wayne Knows, and What William Knows, it’s Chelsea and England winger Joe Cole‘s turn to dispel wisdom. And indeed wisdom it is, because this episode is by far the best of the series yet. It may seem as simple advice but as Joe says, “those that maintain their focus on improving and practicing usually go a long way”. Put it into action lads!
In the words of Nike themselves: “A player can have the best box of tricks on the field, but he needs to be in the right position to spring them. See what England midfielder Joe Cole had to say about creating space for a piece of game-turning brilliance, committed training and beating defenders“.

Nike: What William Knows
Thursday, July 10th, 2008Second episode in Nike’s “What [...] Knows” series (once again, if you haven’t been following, the [...] part can be substituted by the player’s first name to make it look cool).
We had “What Wayne Knows” as the pilot episode, this time it’s Arsenal and France center-back William Gallas‘s turn. The Frenchman tells us about the joy of big-pressure games, the importance of winning the first ball, and why his first instinct as a defender is to counter-attack. “After playing for some of the top teams in France and England, the Arsenal man is a past master at shackling the best strikers in Europe” says Nike. Oh, and “he’s far from goal-shy himself” too.
