Are We Back? Yes. No. Maybe…

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Dear Readers,

“August 30th, 2009″… that is how long ago the last post of mCalcio was published. Did almost three years really just fly by?

Many things have happened since then. For those who have been following mCalcio since its inception (or who joined along the way), you already know that a few months before that last post things weren’t going well for me personally. You may scroll down for a full explanation here, but suffice to say I had reached a certain saturation level. I just couldn’t take the day-to-day blogging routine than my life had become, and thus decided to take a long break. I thought I had subsequently “recovered”, but that was only an illusion. Following that post at the end of August, I decided to pull the plug permanently and move on to other things, all the while maintaining mCalcio online… “just in case”.

Duck & Cover, Fallout

When liberty returns, I will return.
Victor Hugo

And so… we return.

Dear mCalcio readers, it has been a rather sad couple of months. As you can see, the latest post before this one is dated 13 April 2009, for it has been more than 60 days that mCalcio.com has been absent from the general public. At first, the homepage subsisted, waiting for an igniting spark of inspiration from its creator. Indeed, it was lack of imagination and motivation which first drove me away from sports blogging, the banality of its routine having substituted itself for the original excitement fuelling my desire to write.

Quite simply dear readers, I had become tired of it. It had become “work”, but work which you do because you’re obligated, not because you take pleasure in it. At some point I realized: “wait a minute! I’m not really obligated at all”. And so I decided to take a break.

Then, events outside of my control (akin to a nuclear explosion, hence the post image) further prolonged this break.

Puma Italia Backpack (REVIEW)

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

And so, after my historical Bayern Munich 2007-08 jersey (which by the way, won “Best Shirt” in the 2008 Soccerlens Awards) article, the time has come to review yet another fine SoccerPro product.

SoccerPro Puma Italia Backpack

This time, even more relevant to us Serie A and Calcio fans, I picked an Azzurri-related product: the Puma Italia backpack.

Season Greetings from mCalcio

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Hello everyone!

Firstly, let’s get one thing out of the way. Custom requires the usual “happy new year” wishes be exchanged during this time of the year. Since I have never been a big fan of conformity, here goes:

There.

Now, with year 2009 beginning and all I feel like a little update is in order. It’s been almost a week since the last post here. As you know, my computer situation precludes me from writing too many elaborate and lengthy posts, but fear not!! mCalcio will soon be back to its full daily updates by the second half of January. Also if all goes as planned, there will a few major improvements along the road. I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, thank you for your renewed support (in particular the emails I’ve been getting) and patience. mCalcio wouldn’t be where it’s at without you, the readers. Writing, reporting, and ranting about the Serie A is only fun if someone else is reading it, so once again thank you for bearing with me. ;)

Buon Natale 2008 Everyone

In these dire times of shaky world economy and computer-less writers, best wishes for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and happy holidays on behalf of mCalcio.com.

Santa brought me plenty of soccer-related gifts this morning: from sportswear (Juve’s full kit -jersey, shorts, and socks) to books (Gigi Buffon’s “Numero 1″ and Antonio Cassano’s “Dico Tutto” autobiographies), my footy-addiction is satisfied. I just hope he didn’t use the revolutionary delivery method depicted in the image below.
