As another Serie A week-end draws near, AC Milan vs. Atalanta could very well be David Beckham‘s last game for the Rossoneri, and I for one will be sad to see him leave Italian football. Milan might not have been great over the past few weeks or so, but for me Beckham has added to the Milan side considerably and would probably continue to flourish in Italian football. If it doesn’t happen now it could happen in November anyway when his contract at LA Galaxy runs out (there are speculations Milan is waiting to do just that: snatch the player on a free transfer for January 2010) so even if he does return we may not have seen the last of the former England captain.

Serie A Preview: AC Milan vs. Atalanta
Saturday, March 7th, 2009Inter Milan vs. AC Milan Preview: 270th Derby della Madonnina
Friday, February 13th, 2009The time is nearly upon us again. The Inter vs. Milan derby at the Giuseppe Meazza (or, Derby della Madonnina for those in the know) is one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures on the international footballing calendar, one that holds interest for thousands of Interisti/Rossoneri fans everywhere and neutral spectactors all over the world. I’m going to have a look ahead to the derby, see if I can pick out the protagonists/danger men to keep an eye on while trying and offer some football betting picks along the way.
Lazio 0-3 Milan: It’s a Beckham-Powered Rossoneri Machine (Serie A Matchday 22)
Monday, February 2nd, 2009Could this really be possible? Could David Beckham really be the missing piece of the AC Milan puzzle, the piece that so far prevented the Rossoneri from a achieving a consistent string of away victories?
Sunday evening’s match vs. Lazio certainly seems to indicate so, and it was only the umpteenth game in a series of top-notch performances for the Englishman. The term “exceeding all expectations” doesn’t even begin to to decribe the mood at Milanello these days, but suffice to say that Becks not only left his mark on the highlights reel (two very valuable assists to Pato and Ambrosini) but better yet, he didn’t miss a single pass or ball control. Unanimously voted man-of-the-match, it’s no coincidence AC Milan inserted the (soon ex?) Galaxy player into their UEFA Cup list. A strong nudge by Adriano Galliani towards North America…
And just to complete the series of good news for the Rossoneri: they are now sitting second in the rankings, 1 point above Juve and 6 points behind their rival cousins. It’s a bit soon to be talking about “anti-Inter” team again, but what’s certain is that the Serie A race is on now more than ever.
Why Beckham Should stay in Milan, and Why the Galaxy Should Let Him
Thursday, January 29th, 2009I’m going to break from my usual match previews and football betting tips for this week’s article. I feel it is a good time to talk about why David Beckham should stay in Milan and indeed why LA Galaxy should grant him his move to the Northern Italy capital.
As a player Beckham is a great work-horse type player and despite his obvious ability he continues to work as hard as anyone for his team. On countless occasions I’ve watched Beckham pull on an England shirt and be the only player putting in any kind of effort at all. His career has taken him from Manchester United to Real Madrid and after spending some time in America I feel it is a perfect time for him to move back to Europe.
10-Men Inter Reclaim Their +6 Serie A Lead as Juve & Milan Stumble (Serie A Matchday 21)
Thursday, January 29th, 2009As a Bianconero, big disappointment lingers in my mind after Wednesday’s Serie A action. Not only did an unrecognizable (and Del Piero-less) Juve lose away to Udinese, but Inter Milan‘s concurrent win over Catania (and AC Milan‘s draw to Genoa) restores the Nerazzurri’s +6/+8 lead, leaving us to wonder if the current order of the top three Serie A teams will ever change again.
Maybe I’m being overly pessimistic, but I’ve been following the soccer scene for quite some time now and I’ve got this hunch: usually during a title race, when the top team loses some ground only to regain it the following week, they are keeping their lead till the end. I’ve got no scientific or tactical evidence to support this theory, it is what it is: a hunch. But based on my previous years of Serie-A watching experience, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Juve vs. Parma and Juve vs. Inter title races of the late 90′s.
Secretly of course, I want to believe otherwise…
