The biggest match of the week-end of course, was La stracittadina of Rome: an always explosive Roma vs. Lazio that left no empty seat at the Stadio Olimpico. For derbies, team form means usually very little and Sunday’s fixture serves as yet another example of it: indeed, after five consecutive winless matches Roma managed to put a stop to their results crisis, achieving a 1-0 win courtesy of a well-placed Julio Baptista header in the second half.

Kaká scored a contested penalty against Chievo Sunday, helping AC Milan cut the gap on Serie A leaders Inter to a point. The Brazilian picked himself up to score after appearing to be tripped just outside the box, with the second-placed Rossoneri just about edging the game 1-0 despite some nervous moments.

Napoli fell behind in the title race with a 3-1 loss to Atalanta in Bergamo. Adriano Ferreira Pinto had already put Atalanta ahead 1-0 when Napoli forward Marcelo Zalayeta picked up his second yellow card in the 67th, leaving the visitors with 10 men. Napoli forward Marek Hamsik converted a penalty in the 73rd following a foul by defender Thomas Manfredini, making it 1-1, and Manfredini scored from a free kick in the 89th to restore Atalanta’s lead. Sergio Floccari added another goal for Atalanta in injury time.

As for Inter, the Nerazzurri are still leading the charts with 27 points, Milan is second with 26, Juventus has 24 and Napoli 23. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as Inter took back sole possession of the lead with a 2-0 win at Palermo on Saturday, and one of his goals was certainly worth the entrance ticket.

Three goals this week, and diversity is king! We got a dribble, we got a delicate curling shot, and we got a long-range power blaster. Courtesy of Mister Ferreira Pinto, Cassano and Ibrahimovic. What more could you ask for?
