Calciomercato: The Serie A Winter Transfers - Situation So Far

Serie A teams, get your shopping bags ready! The mid-season transfer window officially opened last week (January 1st), and will remain open until January 31st 19:00 CET. It is a busy time for Italian clubs, who on top of getting ready for the return of Serie A next week-end, have their scouts/negotiatiors/investors working full time in what is known as the “CALCIOMERCATO” back in the old country.

Italy.TheOffside.com

FYI by the way, Martha over at TheOffside has been doing a great job in reporting daily transfer rumours for all the major Serie A teams (such as Van der Vaart being tied to Juve, Ronaldo to Flamengo, Lucarelli to Parma, Solari to… no, Solari isn’t going anywhere, is he Martha?). If you want to keep up to date on the latest Serie A transfer gossip, I invite you to check the Italy.TheOffside.com blog. I for one, won’t be doing much gossip-covering since I’ll be quite busy with my university intramural league over the next few days (which is starting soon, and which I have to organize).

In the meantime though, here’s a practical table summary for all the INGOING & OUTGOING TRANSFERS so far, as well as all undergoing NEGOTIATIONS, courtesy of La Gazzetta dello Sport:

    1. Martha says:

Thanks, Marco, I’ll endeavor to keep it up as best I can. (And, believe it or not, I’ll be ok with Solari leaving if he ends up somewhere he’ll play regularly. Really, anywhere but Roma would be acceptable.)

    2. Joe Ginto says:

      Napoli actually have two departures…
Bucchi went out on loan to Bologna (he had been out on loan to Siena). We signed this piece of **** to a 4-year deal last year. 4 years? I’m really surprised anyone is willing to pay his wages though it could be the terms of the transfer are for the club to only pay a portion. In any case, he’s old, he’s slow and he can’t play fo sho.

We also just sold Fabio Gatti to Modena. Fabio got a raw deal. Even though he’s only slightly taller than my 9-year old son, Fabio played really, really well last year. He hasn’t gotten a game at all this year which is more related to Reja’s insane lineups than it is a reflection on Gatti’s quality. He was a regular for Perugia a few years back in Serie A.

In any case, there both pretty minor deals, but there you go. I feel your pain in organizing a league, Marco. We’re eight players short of getting our league up that is supposed to start next Saturday. Know anyone in the Chicago Far West suburbs who’s looking to wake up at incredibly early hours on Saturday morning and play with a bunch of old men? Didn’t think so.

      Forza Napoli!
