Inter Milan vs. Juventus Preview – The Mourinho & Ranieri Showdown Begins

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

At long last, the much awaited Derby d’Italia (at its 151st historical edition) is back!

Sure, we had little “snacks” like Milan vs. Inter and Roma vs. Lazio on the way, and they did their job at building our appetite until now, but everyone here knows the most anticipated dish in this Serie A 2008-09 luncheon is the fixture between Inter and Juventus, the main course to satisfy even the most hungry of football fans, from Italy and across the world.

Bayern Munich 2007-08 Jersey (REVIEW)

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Ahh Germany. The land of the great Nationalmannschaft, the team with such glorious World Cup and Euro Cup history (six trophies collectively) and who almost increased their collection by one in June, had it not been for the Spanish Armada and a certain Fernando Torres.

Germany is also the homeland of prestigious club teams such as Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, and of course, Bayern Munich. Which brings me to talk to you about SoccerPro‘s latest soccer article I’ve had the pleasure to test: the Bayern Munich 2007-08 Jersey.

How to Watch Soccer Online (Commercial and FREE Services)

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Ahh… the INTERNET. For us soccer fans, it has been the greatest invention since television, keeping us all the more closer to the sport we all love so much. In fact, since the addition of P2P technology, you have no more excuses to even miss ONE soccer match of your favorite team, regardless of where you are around the world.

Of course, you do need a fast internet connection… but that’s pretty much the standard of web-surfing in today’s modern world.

With that said, the options available to watch online soccer are endless. So wouldn’t it be really useful if someone came up with the ultimate guide, something like the “Best Ways to Watch Live Football Online”?

Cristiano Ronaldo & Nike Pro show us how to “Be Invincible”

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Who would have thought that Cristiano Ronaldo, this year’s shoo-in for the Ballon d’Or award, derived all its footballing power from… an undershirt. At least, that’s what the good folks at Nike Pro would have you believe. Case in point: when Manchester United’s Kit Man (Albert Morgan) dons C-Ron’s shirt, he becomes invincible. Like, hit-the-crossbar-four-times-in-a-row-type invicible (only here, the CGI work is all too evident).

Greece 1-1 Italy: Toni Wakes Up, Lippi Makes it 31 (International Friendly)

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

The big story of Wednesday night’s Greece vs. Italy friendly, which let’s face it had the “boring” stamp written all over it before it even started (especially with Inter vs. Juventus coming up this week-end), is that Marcello Lippi is now officially the best Azzurri coach ever. Sure, winning the 2006 World Cup helped in that sense, but Lippi is now also the manager with the longest streak of games without a loss. Better than Vittorio Pozzo (of 1934 and 1938 World Cup-winning fame) who raked in 30 positive matches, good old Marcello is now leading at 31.

Another good piece of news from Greece? Luca Toni has finally ended his Azzurri goalscoring drought!! His beautiful header Wednesday (receiving a good De Rossi set-piece delivery) put an end to over (believe it or not) 700 minutes of goalless playing time. About time too!

Aside from that, the Italian team didn’t shine a whole lot with their performance. It was nice seeing Camoranesi back to full fitness (the winger even came close to scoring), and while all eyes were pointed towards Giuseppe Rossi (in the starting line-up for the first time), the Villarreal striker didn’t raise too many “oohs” and “aahs” from the crowd. One good scoring chance, and a disciplined game otherwise.
