Actually Karl, the Abramovich divorce settlement was for only £150m. That barely put a dent into Abramovich’s assets.

And DBeech: yes, you’re right (although not about the Ballack part… he’s playing in the EPL and should make the ranking), but I guess in circumstances like these the English papers just can’t resist inserting the top-known clubs/players into the article (see Dermot Desmond - chairman of Celtic, and like you mentioned David Beckham and Robbie Fowler).

Just out of curiousity, what kind of criteria includes both Beckham - an English player playing overseas - and Ballack - a German player playing in England? Surely if it’s the EPL rich list then Becks (and Fowler for that matter) don’t apply, right?

Look at the difference in wealth between Abramovich and the rest of the clubs owners: it’s at least five times. So don’t worry, Chelsea still have lots of dough to play around with.
